BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation)

It is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. This is an overnight training session. BALOO training is comprised of two components – an online component and a practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a “TRAINING” Cub Scout outdoor leader. The online component must be completed prior to the practical component. The online training contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training.

IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills)

The hands-on course provides adult leaders with the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specific, this course is required of all direct contact leaders in order to be considered “trained.” (Scoutmaster Specific Training recommended prior to attendance at IOLS). This is an overnight training session.
