We proudly hosted 120 youth at our 12th Annual Law Merit Badge Day, where every participant successfully completed the badge requirements. Scouts from all seven Southern California Councils attended, including representatives from the Greater Los Angeles, Western Los Angeles County, Long Beach, Verdugo Hills, Orange County, California Inland Empire, and Ventura County Councils.

The event featured a distinguished Jurist Panel, including a Federal Magistrate and two Superior Court Judges. Former Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley joined us for the 12th consecutive year to kick off the program with his inspiring opening remarks.

A special thank you goes to the Legal Eagles, a devoted group of legal professionals who champion Greater LA Scouting’s mission to educate young people about the law. Through their efforts, Scouts gain a deeper understanding of the legal system—its relevance to their daily lives and its potential as a career path. By generously sharing their time and expertise, the Legal Eagles inspire and mentor the next generation of legal minds, emphasizing the importance and impact of the legal profession in society.

Our dedicated volunteer team included professionals from diverse legal fields: attorneys from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the L.A. Public Defender’s Office, the Alternate Public Defender’s Office, private defense and criminal law firms, in-house corporate counsel, private practice attorneys, and law enforcement officials. Their collective knowledge and commitment ensured a memorable and enriching experience for every Scout.
