STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
WEBPAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION
STEM is a key initiative embraced by Greater LA Scouting to inspire the natural curiosity of youth and fuel their sense of wonder in the exciting fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
By weaving STEM into our existing programs—ranging from technology and robotics to environmental science and mathematics—Scouts are immersed in engaging, hands-on experiences that spark creativity, build critical thinking skills, and make learning both fun and meaningful. Whether they’re building a model rocket, coding a simple app, or exploring how bridges are engineered, Scouts gain real-world insight into how STEM impacts their everyday lives.
To support this initiative, our council actively promotes the STEM Nova Awards program. This structured yet flexible program recognizes Scouts for their curiosity, effort, and exploration in STEM fields. It provides a pathway for youth to pursue their interests, develop new skills, and gain recognition for their achievements—all while having fun and working alongside dedicated mentors and counselors.
Greater LA Scouting is committed to helping prepare young people for the future by encouraging them to explore the fascinating world of STEM and discover the many ways they can make a difference.
