JOIN OUR CIRCLE X RANCH FOUNDATION FAMILY

The Circle X Ranch Foundation is a private, charitable, tax-exempt organization under 501(C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service. It was founded in 1949 to support the Camps and Camping-related programs of the then Los Angeles Area Council (LAAC), Boy Scouts of America. During the 76-year period, the Foundation has provided regular financial support for the outdoor camping-related programs of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council of Scouting America. The Foundation’s support for the original Circle X Ranch camp, located in the Santa Monica mountains, ensured that camp’s growth and use by thousands of Scouts. That property was donated by the Foundation to the LAAC and was subsequently sold to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy in the 1980s. The sale resulted in a $5.6M gift to the Endowment Fund of the LAAC.

To ensure the continued support for the Council’s camping programs, Camp Big Horn at the Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation in Lake Arrowhead was renamed Circle X Ranch at Big Horn in 1990. The Foundation has funded new programs for the camp, including: a climbing wall and associated equipment, campsite tentage and tables, rifles for the target and range sports program, purchase of the corral for the horsemanship program, the new 2025 Gold Mining program, funds to support the construction of the observatory, a new boat dock at Firebird Lake, and teepees for an Indian village to name just a few. The Foundation’s goal is to provide funds for new and exciting programs that the Council would otherwise not be able to provide. Funds are raised solely via annual dues and donations from Foundation members and friends, and our annual fund-raising event, the Calcutta.
The Foundation membership is comprised of individuals who may or may not have an association with Scouting, but all have a love of the outdoors, a desire to see today’s youth gain that same appreciation, and the programs provided by Scouting America.

If you have any questions, would like to join our band of enthusiasts, or are interested in donating to the Foundation, please feel free to contact any member of the Board.
